The city of Orlnado was offically founded in 1857. Orlando was named after a brave u.s. soldier named Orlando Reeves.
He defended the Orlando based fort during the Seminole war of the 1800's. One night he was up as watch for any sneak attack.
This night as he stood watch, he notied the Seminole indians tring a sneak attach on the fort. He fired upon them awakening
the other soldiers. During a hail of arows he was hit, and killed. If it was not for his keen sight, and quick actions the
fort may have been over taken, but because of Orlando Reeves, the u.s. troops were victorious. Orlando Reeves was burried
a hero in what is now the south side of Lake Eloa in downtown Orlando. A city that now baers his name.
